FILLEIGH PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN'S NOTES May 2007.
I can advise that the Bus Shelter was completed in early May, I am pleased with the look of it and it is gratifying to see it in use. We are very grateful to the D.C.C., Torridge Transport and Norbord, for helping us with financing this project.
The chairman of NDDC (Councillor John Wilshere), recently asked Parish Councils to nominate a parishioner who has made a valuable contribution to their community. We were unanimous in our decision to recommend Tanya Hussell. So in April Tanya and Beryl Morgan, and myself attended a special reception at the Civic Centre where she was presented with a certificate in recognition of all the work she does. Congratulations Tanya and we do appreciate all the work you do.
We anticipate a survey on Affordable Housing in our Parish will be under taken within the next few weeks. We will then have an Open meeting in the Autumn to discuss this subject.
The drain which was causing problems at Rectory Close has finally been dug up and a new system installed. The roads and pathways around our Parish seem to cause problems from time to time and we always endeavour to take up these concerns with the Highway Dept. Steve Govier who has been in charge for some years, and has always been most helpful, has been moved to another area and we wish him well. Richard has taken over and I met him a few weeks ago. We discussed some of the problems in our Parish and I am confident he will always do his best to help.
On May 15th we held the annual Parish Open Meeting, which was attended by several parishioners. Police Sergeant Dave Williams from South Molton gave a brief report, and the meeting discussed the Parish Survey. Generally we have achieved many of the suggestions, but there are still one or two issues to resolve. We send our congratulations to Albert Cook who won during the recent local election and represents us at the N.D.D.C. He has represented us over many years and we appreciate all his hard work..
If there is any way we can help please feel free to contact me or any of the Parish councillors.
Wishing you all a Happy Summer.
Roger Watts (Chairman Filleigh Parish Council ph 01598760282)
